CES Roundup: Case By Case
With the overabundance of tablets at CES, it should come as no surprise that cases and skins for Apple products such as the iPad and iPhone were common, as well as other smartphones like the Blackberry and Android lines. We decided to highlight a few of our favorites. Make sure you check out the rest of our coverage as well, including some notes on the show, and one reporter’s brief meeting with 50 Cent.
Speck held our attention at first glance as their booth at CES not only was outfitted with a bar but the bright colors stood out against the vibrant white backdrop. Speck has innovative products like their “CandyShell” phone cover complete with a thin, hard-shell coating that looks just as juicy as any sweet treat and in flavorful colors. The “CandyShell Card” even provides a place to stick your credit card or ID without digging through your purse or wallet. The convenient location is unobstrusive and located underneath the protective cover of your phone. Genius we say. Go to their website to view a list of their products. They have a variety to cover anything from iPad to other smartphones. Prices typically range from $29.95 and up.
For those of us who never got over our childhood games like Etch-A-Sketch, it is sometimes nice to reminisce about the days of old as well as have a durable, protective cover over our iPhone. Headcase has done just that with their Etch-A-Sketch case licensed by Ohio Art. Windows are placed strategically so you don’t have to worry about placement. Ranging from $24.95 and up, these covers are made for iPhone and iPad. Cute indeed!
The Defender Series by “Otterbox”: is just that; your phones greatest defense against destructibility and self-induced clumsiness. To help protect your phone against big time falls, the case consists of polycarbonate and silicone all in a protective membrane. Ranging from $29.95 and up, these cases can be used with just about any smartphone. Perfect for hiking or those rugged outdoorsmen (or self-professed klutzes like myself) these smart shells can help with life’s nicks and scratches.
FKA Distributing Company which operates as HoMedics unveiled an 100% recyclable case called the “Recase”. We were unable to find it online at press or even on their website. Keep an eye out for this in the near future and become part of a green future.
